Back on the…er…horse

I can’t think of a proper metaphor to use as my way to say that I signed up for yet another half-marathon. I say “yet another” because in the past two years, I’ve signed up for three halfs and have only run one of them. So…I’d say chances are 50-50 that I’ll actually run it. Luckily, I have some amazing support, and I’ll be joined by a lovely friend-slash-bloggista. Oh, and did I mention the course? Gorge. I’d be crazy to chicken out of this one.

In other sad news, I was rejected from my dream-job…so if there’s anyone out there looking for a brand manager/marketing MBA intern this summer, hit me up. Seriously. I’m free.

Lucky the Fish

My friend Julia wanted me to see this, in honor of the shoeneral that I had last week. I am shocked that I haven’t seen it before now.

Grab yer hankies…

Only watch this if you don’t mind crying. I just watched it while Dave had his headphones on, so he didn’t know what I was doing, and suddenly I looked over at him with my eyes full of tears and COMPLETELY freaked him out.

Holy cow.

Nick Pitera (in the video below) and Adam Lambert should get together and have a falsetto-off.

Seriously, though, even if you don’t care about American Idol, you MUST watch this video. It will blow your friggin’ mind. You won’t know what hit you.

Half-marathon training: Day 43

Today was another stretch & strength day. I have to be honest: I’ve kind of been slacking off on these days. I just don’t get satisfaction from strength training like I do from a good cardio workout.

I did my usual strength routine: 3 sets of 12 lunges, squats, tricep dips, and push-ups, followed by a 10-minute ab routine. Then I decided that since I loafed the strength part, I would do a kick-ass stretch sesh. Enter Yuri:

He’s yet another reason to love Canadians.

THEN I started looking at Yuri’s other videos. Dude, the guy is a man after my own heart! Look at this one – the first half offers some twists on what I’ve already been doing, and the second half incorporates a couple of new moves (including a bridge/leg-extension thingy that I’ve never seen before) (awesome).

I highly recommend browsing through Yuri’s YouTube channel if you’re looking for good ways to spice up your strength training routine, especially if you don’t belong to a gym. I’ll do a workout inspired by him next Thursday (my next strength-training day) and let you know how it goes.

Also, I’m going to make a drinking game (Gatorade or booze, your choice) to this particular video:

Drink whenever:

  • Yuri does something that could be interpreted as sexual (including humping motions or saying the word “thrust”).
  • Yuri talks about using your infant as a weight.
  • Yuri says “kettle bell” or “knapsack”.
  • Yuri makes a sound effect, such as “boom”.
  • Yuri reminds you of: Andre Agassi, Moby, or Mr. Clean. Which might be the whole time.

(Yuri, if you happen to read this, I’m not making fun! You have awesome workouts and I plan on trying them all.)

In addition to the Yuri videos that you KNOW you’re going to be adding to your strength routine, what other ways have you found of jazzing up your non-cardio workouts?

Dear readers,

Thank you so very much for being so amazing. All of the emails and comments I get from you make me deeply happy that I started this blog. I’m excited by how many friends I’ve made thus far, and I’m totally blown away by how many of you say you’re inspired by me. Little, grumpy, soft-armed me! You LIKE me!! Right now, you LIKE me!!!

I just wanted to give you a wee advance notice: Posting will be a skosh less frequent because I’ll be out of town for the next 9 days, and then we will have some sexy house-guests for about five days after that. But never fear! I will still keep you up-to-date on my love-hate relayshe with getting in shape for this half-marathon, as well as some awesome recipes and other musings on exciting topics like: how amazing Melissa is on Dancing With The Stars, what music you should be listening to, ways to stalk your fiance or parter without creeping him/her out, and sculpting with butter (I’m my mother’s daughter).

And just for shizz and giggles:

Other Beholder activity you can look forward to: a detailed post on how swimmers keep their abs so fiiiine (with pictures, don’t worry), and at least TWO give-aways! If not more! And they’re good. REAL good. Like, so good that I can’t even write about them yet because I don’t want to make an web frenzy and break the Internet.

Here’s a hilar YouTube video:

Anyway, I’m around and if you would like to get in touch with me to tell me how much you love me or to be like “WIGGS, WHERE ARE YOU AND WHY AREN’T YOU POSTING MORE WEIRD STUFF ABOUT GETTING IN SHAPE AND THE BACHELOR” just leave a comment. I love comments. They make me feel less like I’m talking to myself here. And all comments are emailed to me before they show up on the blog, so if you have anything you’d like to say to me in private, just say so in your comment and I won’t publish it.

And I’ll leave you with my favorite YouTube video of all time. (I’m trying to keep you entertained while also being informative, see? Did it work? Thought so.)

Also, another sweet one (SOMEBODY’s got babies on the brain, yeesh!)

I got blogged!

I sent my WAAAAALT commercial to the hilarious folks at Videogum, thinking they’d get a tickle out of it, and they posted it! I’m so honored. Deeply, deeply honored. (Any Videogum fans who found me via that post – feel free to read the About Moi page if you’re curious about this blog. And welcome!)

For those of you who haven’t seen it…

This video made me die a little bit with the hilarity.
