udes, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to stay more on top of my game. No more of this dilly-dallying till the last minute crap. Which is why it’s terrible that I’ve become a Polyvore addict. I’m not fashion-forward enough to use it for clothes, but hot DAMN do I love making up new rooms. Maybe it’s because I’ve decorated nearly every square inch of my condo and now I have to move to the virtual world to get my interior design fix. At least it’s free. Here are my latest cree-ay-shes: first, a bedroom for my teenage cousin who just moved into a new house with her fam, and second, a home office with a desk in the closet. Don’t ask why.
I’m most proud of the room for my cousin, because I wanted it to be the sort of thing that’s sophisticated while being youthful. I kept the walls and main furniture/bedding a little more neutral (her favorite color is purple) and then added fun accessories that she can switch out as she gets older. And when she leaves for college, my aunt won’t be stuck with a circus-colored room she can either (a) live with or (b) change and then feel guilty for the next five years when my cousin comes back for break and whines about how her childhood room is gone. Ahem. I may or may not have painted my high school bedroom electric, Windex blue and neon green.
My fabulous friend Aubrey uses Polyvore to visualize her outfit options. When she’s thinking of buying a new piece of clothing, she checks Polyvore to see what awesome crap she can do with it. Genius, right?

I keep getting emails from you lovely people asking about some of the decor going on in my house, so I figured I’d post a little photo tour for you. With every month that passes, I get more and more content with the way our condo is coming together. Dave’s only complaint is that we’re not set up to host large groups of people, but just between you and me, I like it that way. I haaaate having crowds of people in my space. All I can think about is how messy things are going to get.
To keep myself from going crazy, I’ll tell you generally where I got certain items – if you want links to the actual pieces, leave a comment and I’ll provide.

If you know of someone (maybe yourself?!) who’s looking for housing in Chicago this summer, click here! (There’s a full photo tour in the ad link, too.) http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/sub/1099116275.html
Yep, we’re renting out our place. And it’s awesome. I’m not kidding. I love living here. Lemme know if you’re interested by leaving a comment on this post and I’ll get in touch with you privately via email.
Right?! You know you want to live here.
We get guh-REAT light throughout the whole unit
I’ll be honest – I’ll feel more comfortable renting the condo to someone who reads my blog (or is friends with someone who reads my blog) than a person I find on Craigslist, so anyone who gets in touch via The Beholder will be given preference. And probably some baked goods, too. And maybe some makeup.

When I was looking for that video clip from “The Red Balloon,” I came across a bunch of stills taken from the movie. How sweet would it be to decorate a child’s room using this movie as the theme? For that matter, a grown-up room could pull it off, too. (By the way, don’t forget to answer the Inside the Actors Studio questions in my previous post! I want to hear what you’ve got to say!)
See what I mean? Maybe the prenatal vitamins have gone to my head.
I’m heading out for a lunchtime run – check back in a bit for a workout update, another healthy recipe, and the story of how I came to own a giant box full of free makeup from Sephora.
What was the theme of your childhood room? My mom didn’t know whether I was a boy or a girl, so she hand-painted blue and red rocking horses on my walls and made me a matching toychest that we still own.

I wish I were cool enough to have a blue sofa at my dining table. How gorge is this whole space?
Look at the legs of the table!
Those dishes? That print on the wall?! Too gorge.

Ach, how much do you love this bedroom?. I just love muted color palettes, especially in spaces that are supposed to be restful. Can you just imagine how delicious all of those books must smell? I also adore how disheveled the room is, even though I know I’d be straightening those shelves and tidying up the bed in 2.4 seconds.

While we’re on a tour of my dream-house, how much do you love this library/sitting room? The chandelier is what really seals the deal for me. All three of these images from from Mobileffe.
I could curl up there for DAYS.
What’s your favorite color palette for R&R-style rooms?
